Taiwan Black Tea No.18 (Red Jade)

Taiwan Black tea No.18 is pronounced Hong Yu in Chinese. The translation in English is mean Red Jade. This new Black Tea was found by The Tea Research and Extension Station where located in the hills surrounding Sun Moon Lake has also focused on the development and production of other black teas. The very uniqe fact is the Research and Extension station has created one of the most truly unique and quality black teas in the world. The red jade is a cross between an assam strain from Burma and a local wild tea strain. For the very unique and best tea was made that another good reason is that the place of the origin Yuchih Township is one of the most suitable places for black tea trees to grow.

Yuchih town has a long Assam black tea history. It grows mainly Assam back tea strain which was introduced by Sinjing Genjilang (the father of black tea) from Assam, India. At that time, the Japan administration studied the geography, soil, environment, and weather to find where is the proper place to produce tea. Finally, Yuchih town was chosen to grow the black tea because that it is at an altitude of 600-800 meters (around 1960-2630 feet) and has the stable humidity and diverse landform. Besides, the black tea has been refined by Tea Research and Extension Station. Yuchih town has become the home of Taiwan black tea ever since.

Brewed color: olor turns red, carrying some golden tint, and is crystal clear.

Tea leaves: Rather thick, glossy and dark in color.

Flavor : The distinctive fragrant of the Taiwan Black Tea No.18 when brewing tea and pull out the first cups that you could smell with the cinnamon aroma  then when tasting it the mint flavor is coming out with your nose
